Yamashita Takes Two-Shot Lead Into Maybank Championship Finale

Defending champion Miyu Yamashita will take a two-shot lead into the final round of the Maybank Championship in Kuala Lumpur after a five-under 67 on Saturday took her to 18 under par. The Japanese star, the 2025 Women's British Open winner, is chasing back-to-back wins in the event and a third LPGA title of the season.

China's Yan Liu had the round of the day, a 63 featuring an eagle and nine birdies, to move into a tie for second on 16 under alongside Frenchwoman Pauline Roussin-Bouchard, who shot 67. Australia's Robyn Choi is chasing a long-awaited maiden LPGA title after a six-under 66 with eight birdies left her tied fourth, four shots back alongside Thai amateur Marisa Tojai.

Yamashita won last year's tournament in a playoff, and a repeat would earn her $450,000 from the $3 million purse. With two players two shots behind and a chasing pack still in range, Sunday's finale at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club promises a tense finish to the LPGA's late-season Asian swing.
