"Wonderboy" Thompson to Retire After UFC 334 Farewell at Madison Square Garden
Former UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson says his fight against Charles Radtke at UFC 334 on November 14 will be the last of his MMA career.

Stephen Thompson, one of the most decorated strikers in mixed martial arts history, will fight one last time at UFC 334. The former UFC welterweight title challenger confirmed in an interview with Ozoon that his bout against Charles Radtke on November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York will be his retirement fight. "It's my last one," Thompson said. "What better place to have it than Madison Square Garden, New York City?" Thompson, 43, has repeatedly dismissed retirement talk in recent years, even after losing five of his last six fights. He says his body still feels good and he believes he could keep going, but becoming a father has changed his thinking. His baby girl is four months old, and Thompson joked that he is "Wonderdad" now. He remains open to other forms of competition, including Real American Freestyle, but his MMA career ends at UFC 334. Thompson made his UFC debut at UFC 143, stopping Dan Stittgen with a first-round head-kick knockout. The kickboxing legend went on to beat Kevin Holland, Johny Hendricks and Jorge Masvidal, and twice fought Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title, drawing at UFC 205 before losing the rematch at UFC 209. He never made it back to a title fight, but he will get one final walk to the Octagon on one of the biggest cards of the year, headlined by the heavyweight title fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit.
