Winfield Jr. Fractures Rib, Sidelined 2–4 Weeks as Battered Bucs Visit Dallas
Tampa Bay will be without star safety Antoine Winfield Jr. — and starting quarterback Baker Mayfield — for Thursday night's trip to Dallas, as coach Todd Bowles confirmed the rib fracture will cost Winfield two to four weeks.

Tampa Bay's miserable season keeps finding new lows. Coach Todd Bowles confirmed Tuesday that star safety Antoine Winfield Jr. suffered a rib fracture and will miss two to four weeks, ruling him out of Thursday night's Week 5 visit to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium. Winfield is far from the only Buccaneer on the sideline. Quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb) has not practiced and is out, leaving Jalon Daniels to start again. Linebacker SirVocea Dennis (ankle/foot) and cornerback Benjamin Morrison (quad) did not practice Tuesday, while kicker Chase McLaughlin was added to the report with a groin/hip issue. Anthony Nelson (illness) was limited; edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. practiced fully through groin and shoulder complaints. The Cowboys have their own concerns: linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, cornerback Cobie Durant, and tackle Drew Shelton all sat out Tuesday, though All-Pro guard Tyler Smith returned to practice with his 21-day window now open. At 0-4 and sliding, Tampa desperately needs a spark — but heading into Dallas with its quarterback and its defensive heartbeat sidelined makes Thursday night look like a mountain, not an opportunity.
