Wild Lose Foligno Early as Veteran Winger Exits Sabres Game With Upper-Body Injury
Minnesota's Nick Foligno left Tuesday night's game in Buffalo after logging only 3:29 of ice time, the latest blow in a bumpy start to the Wild's season.

Nick Foligno's first full season in Minnesota hit a snag Tuesday night when the veteran forward exited the Wild's road game against the Buffalo Sabres with an upper-body injury. Foligno managed just five shifts and 3:29 of ice time before his night ended early. The team did not specify exactly when or how he was hurt, but the 38-year-old had an inauspicious collision with Sabres captain Rasmus Dahlin earlier in the game, when Dahlin powered through an attempted hit from the Wild winger. Foligno had dressed for Minnesota's first three games of the season, scoring in the opener against Nashville for his only point so far while averaging 13:11 per night with a plus-2 rating. The Wild, who fell to 2-1, surrendered a 2-0 lead on the road and lost 3-2 in overtime to his younger brother Marcus's former team. This is Foligno's first full campaign with Minnesota after the former Columbus Blue Jackets captain was acquired from Chicago at last season's trade deadline. He posted four points in 17 regular-season games down the stretch and added three more in 11 playoff contests as the Wild reached the second round before falling to Colorado, then re-signed in the offseason on a one-year, $900,000 deal. Across 1,289 career regular-season games, Foligno has 252 goals and 613 points.
