White Reaches 100 MLS Goals as Whitecaps Strengthen Grip on the West
Brian White scored his 100th MLS goal as Vancouver beat San Diego 4-1 on Wednesday night, stretching the Whitecaps' lead at the top of the Western Conference.

Brian White reached a landmark few players in league history have managed, scoring his 100th MLS goal as the Vancouver Whitecaps beat San Diego 4-1 on Wednesday night. The striker headed home in the 41st minute, his 18th goal of the season, to become only the 17th player to reach a century of goals in the competition. Vancouver had already taken the lead through Aleksa Cvetkovic, who scored his first MLS goal in just his fourth start since joining the club in August, redirecting a pass across goal in the 24th minute. Ryan Gauld added a diving header in the 66th minute for Vancouver's 67th goal of the regular season, the most the club has ever scored in a single MLS campaign, before Bruno Caicedo broke clear to make it 4-0 in the 76th. San Diego pulled one back late through Onni Valakari, but the damage was done. The win moved Vancouver, now 17-8-7, four points clear at the top of the Western Conference, after second-placed Dallas had lost to Columbus earlier in the evening. San Diego, meanwhile, saw their winless run stretch to ten matches and remain out of playoff contention. For White, who has scored 98 goals in all competitions since joining Vancouver in 2021, the century goal capped another prolific season and underlined his standing as one of the most reliable finishers in the league.
