West Indies Women Change Coaches as Deitz Steps Down and Coley Takes Interim Charge

The West Indies women's team will have a new voice in charge for their upcoming series against Pakistan after Shane Deitz stepped down as head coach. Cricket West Indies confirmed on Tuesday that Deitz had left the role after three years, following the expiration of his contract at the end of October. Former West Indies men's Test coach Andre Coley will take charge on an interim basis, working alongside the existing support staff for the Pakistan series. Deitz's tenure took the side to back-to-back Women's Twenty20 World Cup semi-finals, losing to New Zealand in 2024 and to Australia in 2026. His departure comes with the team in good recent form, having beaten Zimbabwe 2-1 in the one-day series and 3-0 in the Twenty20 series. The change is therefore less a reset after failure than a handover at a moment of relative stability, but it still leaves Coley with an immediate task: keeping that momentum going against Pakistan while the board decides on a permanent appointment. For a side that has twice reached the last four of the global Twenty20 tournament, the next step is turning semi-final appearances into a final, and the Pakistan series is the first chance to show the transition will not slow that progress.
