Warriors Down to Nine Active Players for Blazers Preseason Trip
Golden State travels to Portland for Wednesday's preseason game with just nine available players, resting most of its veterans while Jimmy Butler, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis remain sidelined.

The Golden State Warriors will roll into Portland with a skeleton crew on Wednesday night. A day after picking up their first win of the 2026-27 preseason against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Warriors open the second half of a back-to-back at the Trail Blazers with just nine active players available.
According to NBA insider Dalton Johnson, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Al Horford, Brandin Podziemski, De'Anthony Melton, Gui Santos, Georges Niang and Gary Payton II will not make the trip to Portland — along with rookie standout Yaxel Lendeborg, who stole the show in Tuesday's win over the Lakers.
The absences compound a mounting injury list. Golden State is already without Jimmy Butler III, Moses Moody and Kristaps Porzingis, leaving head coach Steve Kerr with a bare-bones rotation for the Moda Center visit.
The silver lining is opportunity. With so many veterans staying home, the game gives Kerr an extended look at summer league standout Graham Ike and recent free agent signee Brandon Williams, both fighting for real minutes. The Warriors' six-game preseason slate is heavier than most around the league, which makes load management an early priority as they chase another run with their aging core.
