USA Cruise Past Mexico 3-0, Now Face Canada Rivalry Test on Tuesday

A young, fearless American side delivered its statement win on Saturday night, dismantling arch-rivals Mexico 3-0 beneath State Farm Stadium in Arizona. Teenagers Cavan Sullivan and Julian Hall both found the net in what Fox Sports called the most lopsided U.S. win over Mexico since 1995, and playmaker Gio Reyna pulled the strings before deadpanning that his post-match celebration would be "going to sleep."

Mauricio Pochettino's rebuilt roster — nearly four years younger than the one that reached the World Cup round of 16 this summer — is now 3-0 in this extended 16-day international window, with 11 goals across wins over Mexico, Peru, and Chile. There is no time to rest: Canada visits Allianz Field in St. Paul on Tuesday night (8 p.m. ET) for another fierce rivalry test.

The Americans haven't beaten Canada in six attempts dating back to 2021, including last year's Nations League consolation defeat under Pochettino. With both co-host nations rebuilding after their home World Cup, the new chapter Pochettino promised gets its first real examination Tuesday night.
