Torres Leads Grand Final After Opening 65 as DP World Tour Cards Go on the Line

Joseba Torres made the ideal start in his pursuit of a DP World Tour card, posting a seven-under-par opening round of 65 to lead the Grand Final at Club de Golf Alcanada in Mallorca. The Spaniard carded eight birdies and dropped just one shot to reach seven under, sitting one stroke clear of American John Catlin and Frenchman Julien Sale, who both signed for 66. The Grand Final is the 28th and final event on the HotelPlanner Tour's 2026 Road to Mallorca schedule, with the 45-man field competing for one of 15 DP World Tour cards on offer. Torres made the perfect start with two birdies in his opening three holes before dropping his only shot of the day on the fourth, then responded with birdies on the seventh and eighth to reach the turn at three under, before rattling off back-to-back gains from the 12th and finding two more birdies on the 15th and 16th. The 24-year-old, currently 23rd on the Road to Mallorca Rankings, earned his place in the Grand Final with a runner-up finish at the Hainan Open. He must match that performance in Mallorca to be assured of promotion, while a top-six finish will keep his hopes of a DP World Tour card alive depending on rivals' results. Sale, already guaranteed promotion, is chasing the title and the Rankings crown.
