Thunder Stifle Nuggets 96-84 as Gilgeous-Alexander's Record 141-Game 20-Point Streak Comes to an End

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's extraordinary scoring streak is over. The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar managed only 17 points in Thursday's 96-84 win over the Denver Nuggets, ending his NBA-record run of 141 consecutive regular-season games scoring 20 or more. Gilgeous-Alexander had not been held below 20 since Oct. 30, 2024, when he scored 18 against the San Antonio Spurs — before Oklahoma City went on to win the 2025 NBA Finals. He went scoreless in the first half, his only points a pair of free throws, and made a late push with 10 fourth-quarter points. But with the Thunder up 16 and less than two minutes remaining, the Nuggets emptied their bench, and the reigning two-time MVP took his own seat, officially closing the streak. Denver never found its rhythm either: Nikola Jokic managed just eight points on 3-of-12 shooting as Oklahoma City forced 13 second-half turnovers and converted them into 19 points, including 14 of its 26 fourth-quarter points off giveaways. Ajay Mitchell's transition layup late in the third finally gave the Thunder their first lead since going up 3-0 in the opening seconds. The win keeps Oklahoma City's strong start to the 2026-27 season rolling as the defending-era Thunder continue to build around their superstar.
