Thompson's Last-Second Three in Overtime Caps Heat's 20-Point Comeback Over Clippers

Klay Thompson turned back the clock on Wednesday night, hitting the game-winning three-pointer with one second remaining in overtime as the Miami Heat completed a stunning comeback from 20 points down to beat the Los Angeles Clippers 117-116 at the Intuit Dome. Thompson finished with 30 points, his first 30-point game since 2024, shooting 8 of 17 from beyond the arc. His winner came from the left wing off a pass from Giannis Antetokounmpo, after Bam Adebayo set the screen that freed him on the baseline. Adebayo led Miami with a season-high 35 points and 10 rebounds on 14-of-20 shooting, while Antetokounmpo added 27 points, 14 rebounds and six assists. Miami had trailed by 20 and by 15 at half-time, 67-52, and still looked beaten late in the extra period. Darius Garland, who led the Clippers with 26 points, put Los Angeles ahead 116-112 with 1:19 left in overtime, but Adebayo's fadeaway cut the gap to two with 1:04 remaining, and the Clippers never scored again. Max Strus missed two shots and committed a foul in the closing minute before Thompson's winner from 24 feet. Adebayo had already missed a jumper at the regulation buzzer that would have won it with 2.7 seconds left. The win was Miami's third in four games after losing their first four, moving the Heat to 3-5, while the Clippers fell to 1-7.
