Thomas on Verge of Cracking PGA Tour's All-Time Money Top Five
Justin Thomas sits just $300,000 behind Adam Scott on the PGA Tour's career earnings list and could surge into the top five at this week's Baycurrent Classic in Japan.

Justin Thomas is knocking on the door of one of the PGA Tour's most exclusive clubs. Sixth on the tour's all-time money list at $74.6 million, the two-time major champion needs only a modest payday at this week's Baycurrent Classic in Japan to pass Adam Scott ($74.9 million) and move into the top five. Thomas is competing in the tour's fall swing stop in Japan, where defending champion Xander Schauffele headlines the field. With tour purses at their current levels, even a solid mid-table finish should be enough to lift him past the 2013 Masters winner. The company above him is rarefied. Scottie Scheffler seized the No. 1 spot this season, overtaking Tiger Woods' long-standing $121 million mark at the Tour Championship, and Rory McIlroy sits close behind at $119.6 million. Justin Rose rounds out the top four at $79.4 million. For Thomas, who turned professional in 2013 and has been a fixture near the top of the game ever since, the milestone reflects more than a decade of consistently elite golf played entirely in the modern purse era. Whether the jump happens in Japan or at the next stop, his march into the top five now looks like a matter of when, not if.
