Teravainen Sidelined by Ankle Injury as Blackhawks Open Road Trip Without Two Key Forwards
Chicago's Teuvo Teravainen suffered an ankle injury against St. Louis on Tuesday and will miss Thursday's game at the Islanders, leaving the Blackhawks short two forwards alongside Connor Bedard.

The Chicago Blackhawks will open a three-week road stretch without one of their top veterans. Forward Teuvo Teravainen suffered an ankle injury during Tuesday's 4-2 win over the St. Louis Blues and will not travel with the team for Thursday night's matchup against the New York Islanders, The Hockey News reported early Thursday. Teravainen missed the third period against the Blues after getting hurt, and head coach Jeff Blashill confirmed he did not practice on Wednesday. The 32-year-old winger, who has two assists in three games this season, is also considered doubtful for Saturday's visit to Carolina. The setback deepens an early injury crisis for Chicago. Superstar Connor Bedard and Andrew Mangiapane are already on injured reserve, leaving the Blackhawks thin up front just as they hit the road. Dominic Toninato was recalled from Rockford of the AHL as cover. Teravainen is in his second stint with the Blackhawks after posting 14 goals and 35 points in 75 games last season. Chicago took Tuesday's win against St. Louis as its first of the season, and Spencer Knight is expected to start in goal against the Islanders at UBS Arena.
