Suzuki Own Goal Costs Villa as Fulham Snatch Late 1-1 Draw
Nicolas Jackson put Aston Villa ahead at Villa Park, but a late Zion Suzuki own goal handed Fulham a 1-1 Premier League draw.

Aston Villa had to settle for a point at home after a dramatic late twist against Fulham. Nicolas Jackson fired the hosts in front, and for long spells it looked as though that strike would be enough to secure all three points. Villa even had a chance to extend their advantage before the break, only for John McGinn to see his penalty come back off the crossbar. Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki also produced a fine stop to deny Oscar Bobb, keeping the visitors in the contest when Villa were pushing for a second goal. The game turned late on, however, when Suzuki turned the ball into his own net to level the scores and rescue a draw for Fulham. It was a frustrating afternoon for Unai Emery's side, who had controlled much of the match but could not find the second goal that would have killed it off. Fulham, meanwhile, will be pleased with a hard-earned point on the road after riding their luck at times. The result leaves Villa still searching for consistency at home, while Fulham showed once again that they are difficult to put away even when they spend long periods on the back foot.
