Surridge's 91st-Minute Header Seals Nashville's Record Night as Shield Winners Tie MLS Points Mark

Nashville SC produced a comeback worthy of their season on Sunday, fighting back from two goals down to beat Red Bull New York 3-2 at Geodis Park and lift the Supporters' Shield in front of their own supporters. The visitors led by two at the interval, but Nashville forced two New York own goals, in the 45th minute and late in the second half, before Sam Surridge headed home the winner in the 91st minute to send the home crowd into a frenzy.

The victory gave Nashville a record 15 home wins in a single MLS season and took them to 74 points, equalling the league's all-time points record set by Inter Miami in 2024. It also completed a second unbeaten home campaign in club history, a remarkable achievement for a side that has turned Geodis Park into one of the hardest places to visit in the league. Nashville lifted the Supporters' Shield trophy after the match, the reward for finishing the regular season with the best record in MLS.

There is still one game to play, away at FC Cincinnati on Saturday, November 7, but the Shield is already secured and the record books already rewritten. For a club that has built steadily rather than buying its way to the top, this was a night that confirmed its place among the league's elite.
