Super-Subs Osmand and Duran Inspire Celtic's Stunning 3-2 Comeback Over Besiktas

Celtic finally got their Europa League campaign up and running in dramatic fashion on Thursday night, coming from a goal down to beat Besiktas 3-2 at Celtic Park. The win was inspired entirely from the bench, as substitutes Callum Osmand and Camilo Duran turned a match that looked lost into a famous home victory. The Scottish champions were heading for a fifth straight European defeat when Junior Olaitan put Besiktas ahead in the 54th minute, tapping in the rebound after goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had saved his penalty. With the home crowd growing restless, interim boss Martin O'Neill made a triple change just after the hour, sending on Osmand, Duran and Colby Donovan — and the move changed everything within seconds. Osmand needed only 43 seconds to make his mark, drilling home the equaliser with his first touch after being played in by Callum McGregor. The 20-year-old then set up Duran to round goalkeeper Alexander Nubel and put Celtic ahead in the 78th minute. Besiktas captain Orkun Kokcu looked to have spoiled the party with a stunning long-range strike in the 85th minute, but Duran struck again two minutes later, reacting quickest after Kieran Tierney's shot was deflected into his path to seal the win. The result gives Celtic their first three points of the league phase at the fourth attempt, keeping their hopes of reaching the knockout stages alive with four games still to play.
