Stecher Scores With 28 Seconds Left as Maple Leafs Edge Rangers 5-4; Bobrovsky Ties Lundqvist for Sixth All-Time in Wins
Troy Stecher scored with 28 seconds remaining to lift Toronto past the New York Rangers 5-4 on Thursday night, a third straight win for the Maple Leafs in which Sergei Bobrovsky earned his 459th career victory to tie Henrik Lundqvist for sixth all-time.

The Toronto Maple Leafs needed every second of Thursday night. Troy Stecher buried the game-winner with just 28 seconds left in the third period to edge the New York Rangers 5-4 at Scotiabank Arena, sealing Toronto's third straight victory. On a delayed penalty, Stecher took a feed from Morgan Rielly and fired over Dylan Garand's glove from the top of the right face-off circle — his first goal of the season in his 11th game. The winner capped a wild third period in which Alexis Lafrenière had tied the game 4-4 for New York at 14:25, shooting past Sergei Bobrovsky's blocker through traffic. Brandon Duhaime starred for Toronto with a goal and two assists, while Teddy Blueger added a goal and an assist for his first point of the season. Easton Cowan, Kirill Marchenko — on the power play — and Duhaime also scored for the Leafs, who improved to 6-4-2. Bobrovsky made 21 saves to record his 459th NHL win, tying Henrik Lundqvist for sixth on the all-time list. The Rangers (7-4-1) lost for the third time in four games despite four assists from Adam Fox and a goal and an assist from Mika Zibanejad. Garand stopped 30 shots in defeat.
