Stamkos Ties Sakic and Iginla on All-Time Goals List in Predators' First Win

Steven Stamkos is now level with two of the greatest goal scorers the game has seen. The Nashville veteran buried his 625th career goal on October 3, drawing even with Joe Sakic and Jarome Iginla for 17th place on the NHL's all-time list, and the milestone came in a 2-1 win over Dallas — the Predators' first victory of the 2026-27 season.

The landmark goal was a vintage Stamkos one-timer from the left faceoff dot on the power play, set up by Ryan O'Reilly. The assist was O'Reilly's 899th career point, a milestone of his own. Nils Hoglander added another power-play tally at 15:49 of the first period, and those two strikes held up after an opening loss to Minnesota.

Juuse Saros did the heavy lifting, making 29 saves including 12 in the third period to protect the lead. Dallas had struck first, with Miro Heiskanen scoring just 47 seconds in, and Casey DeSmith stopped 24 shots for the Stars — but the netminder was denied the 100th win of his career. For Nashville, though, the night belonged to Stamkos and another step up hockey's scoring ladder.
