Smotherman Wins First PGA Tour Title in 100th Start
Austin Smotherman held off Doug Ghim to win the Bank of Utah Championship at 26-under, earning a two-year exemption and $1,080,000.

The 100th time was the charm. Austin Smotherman converted his overnight lead into a maiden PGA Tour victory at the Bank of Utah Championship on Sunday, shooting a final-round 68 at Black Desert Resort to finish at 26-under — a tournament scoring record — two shots clear of Doug Ghim.
The 32-year-old never trailed all week, building a three-shot cushion with early birdies before surviving a wobble at the 13th, where a plugged bunker lie led to double bogey and briefly cut his lead to one. Smotherman steadied himself with a bounce-back birdie at 16 to seal it. "We won on the PGA Tour. That's insane," he said.
The rewards are enormous: 500 FedExCup points, $1,080,000, and a two-year exemption. Entering the week at No. 79 in the standings — with only the top 100 keeping full cards for 2027 — Smotherman has secured his future in emphatic style.
