Sheppard Storms to Blu Label Unlimited Invitational Title With Blistering Final Day at Pecanwood

England's Corey Sheppard produced a final-round masterclass to claim the BET Blu Label Unlimited Invitational #8 at Pecanwood Golf & Country Club in Hartbeespoort, South Africa, on Thursday. The 54-hole Big Easy Tour event, carrying a R150,000 prize fund, ran from October 20 to 22.

Sheppard began the final day one stroke off the lead after rounds of 66 and 70 left him eight under par. He wasted no time erasing the gap, reeling off four consecutive birdies to open his round and seize the lead early. The Englishman kept the foot down around the turn, firing a five-under-par 31 on the front nine to move to 13 under and open a three-shot lead as he headed to the 10th hole. Despite late pressure from the chasing field, he stayed composed to secure the trophy.

South Africa's Slade Pickering, the overnight leader after a second-round 65 that included a remarkable 29 on the back nine, pushed Sheppard early, while Zimbabwe's Michael Wallace, who had led after an opening 65, faded from contention. The event drew an international field from South Africa, England, Zimbabwe and Italy at the Jack Nicklaus-designed, par-72 Pecanwood layout on the banks of Hartbeespoort Dam.

The Pecanwood triumph is Sheppard's second Big Easy Tour win of the season, following his victory at the BETWAY Big Easy Tour 8 event at Benoni Lake Golf Club in September.
