Sharks Score Six to Beat Senators for First Regulation Win of the Season

The San Jose Sharks finally have a regulation win. Collin Graf and Jacob Trouba each recorded a goal and an assist as San Jose defeated the Ottawa Senators 6-2 at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday night.

Nolan Allan and Tyler Toffoli also scored for the Sharks (6-4-1), who struck twice short-handed on their way to the club's first victory in regulation this season. Kiefer Sherwood added two assists.

The standout performer was Yaroslav Askarov, who made 41 saves after going 0-4-0 in his previous four starts. "Thought our goaltender was great," said Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky. "We were under siege for the majority of that game."

Tim Stutzle and Jordan Spence replied for the Senators (7-4-0), who were playing the second night of a back-to-back after beating Florida 5-1 in Brady Tkachuk's return to Ottawa on Wednesday. Samuel Ersson made 22 saves for the hosts.

"Maybe a little bit of a mixed bag here tonight, but good teams find ways to win," Graf said. "There's been some comments about regulation wins, so it's nice to finally get that."
