Seven Title Hopefuls Face Pivotal Martinsville Test in O'Reilly Series

The NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series arrives at Martinsville Speedway with the most competitive battle atop the standings, as seven drivers remain eligible to lift the championship trophy next week at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Reigning champion Jesse Love leads the way by 19 points over 2024 champion Justin Allgaier, with Hendrick Motorsports rookie Corey Day 29 points off the pace. Haas Factory Team's Sheldon Creed sits 50 points back, followed by Carson Kvapil, Sam Mayer and last week's Talladega winner Sammy Smith, all still mathematically alive. Love has conceded that the half-mile Martinsville track may be his biggest challenge in closing out the season and becoming the series' first back-to-back champion since Tyler Reddick in 2018-2019, with a best finish of 12th in his last six short-track races and an average Martinsville finish of 18.6, the worst among the seven contenders. Five drivers in the field have previous Martinsville wins, including Harrison Burton, Brandon Jones, Austin Hill and Taylor Gray. Practice starts at 3 p.m. ET on Friday, followed by qualifying at 4:05 p.m.
