Rory McIlroy Chasing Leaders After Dramatic Start at Wentworth
Aaron Rai and Joakim Lagergren opened the BMW PGA Championship with six-under-par 66s to share the first-round lead, while Rory McIlroy finished three shots behind after losing ground late in his round.

The BMW PGA Championship is underway at Wentworth, and already there is plenty happening.
Aaron Rai produced one of Thursday’s best rounds, shooting a six-under 66 to move into a share of the lead with Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren. Rai made seven birdies during an impressive opening round.
Rory McIlroy looked like he might be heading toward the top of the leaderboard too, but his finish changed things.
McIlroy dropped shots over the closing stretch and signed for a 69, leaving him three shots behind the overnight leaders.
And the leaderboard is crowded.
Adam Scott, Ludvig Åberg, Ryan Gerard and Nacho Elvira were among those sitting only one shot behind the leaders after the opening round.
The second round is taking place today, meaning this story is still developing and the leaderboard can change considerably before the cut.
For McIlroy, there is still plenty of golf left. But with Rai and Lagergren already setting the pace, Friday at Wentworth could get interesting very quickly.
