Roberts Declares Skubal, Yamamoto and Wrobleski Off Limits as Glasnow Gets the Ball for Dodgers' Do-or-Die Game 4
After Wednesday's 6-2 Game 3 loss put them in a 3-0 NLCS hole, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Tarik Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Justin Wrobleski are unavailable for Thursday's elimination Game 4, with Tyler Glasnow starting against Milwaukee. Roberts plans Skubal for a potential Game 5 and Yamamoto for a potential Game 6 — if the series gets that far.

Facing the steepest climb in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers will not be going all-hands-on-deck in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. Manager Dave Roberts told reporters after Wednesday night's 6-2 loss at Dodger Stadium that starters Tarik Skubal and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, along with reliever Justin Wrobleski, are off limits for Thursday's elimination game. Right-hander Tyler Glasnow gets the start instead, tasked with keeping the defending champions alive against a Milwaukee club now one win from its first World Series since 1982. Roberts has the rest of the plan mapped out — Skubal would start Game 5 on Friday, Yamamoto Game 6 on Sunday in Milwaukee — but that roadmap only matters if Glasnow and the bullpen can buy the Dodgers another day. History is unkind: 41 of 42 teams that have taken a 3-0 lead in a best-of-seven series have gone on to win it, with 32 of those ending in sweeps. The 2004 Boston Red Sox remain the lone team to complete the comeback. Glasnow's task is daunting on paper. He hasn't thrown 100 pitches in a game since April 23, and his only postseason start this year lasted 4 2/3 innings against Atlanta. Milwaukee's lineup, which grinded Blake Snell and Yamamoto into their shortest outings of October, has shown no mercy for big names. Game 4 is Thursday at 8 p.m. ET (moved up an hour) on FS1.
