Renshaw's 190 and Record Stand Put Australia 363 Ahead at Durban Stumps
Matt Renshaw's career-best 190 lifted Australia to 390 all out on day two of the first Test against South Africa in Durban, leaving the hosts 27 for 1 and trailing by 363 at stumps.

Matt Renshaw produced the innings of his life on day two of the first Test in Durban, compiling a career-best 190 from 395 balls as Australia posted 390 all out and left South Africa 27 for one at stumps, a daunting 363 runs behind.
Resuming on 46, Renshaw reached his century before lunch and kept going long after Australia had slipped to 124 for six on the opening day. He shared an 86-run seventh-wicket stand with captain Pat Cummins, who made 43, then a record 134-run ninth-wicket partnership with Nathan Lyon — a new Australian record for the ninth wicket against South Africa. Along the way he survived a blow to the grill from a spiteful Anrich Nortje delivery on 131 before finally falling to Simon Harmer in the first over after tea.
The hundred was Renshaw's second in Test cricket and his first since his 184 against Pakistan at the SCG in January 2017 — almost a decade ago. "When I hit the ball, I was screaming at it, 'Go, go, go!'" he said. "I never thought I'd be here this long."
South Africa's bowlers toiled without reward for much of the day, with Wiaan Mulder claiming four wickets and Marco Jansen three. In reply, the Proteas lost one wicket before stumps, with Aiden Markram and David Bedingham left to face a second new ball on day three with the match slipping away.
