Portugal Seal Nations League Quarter-Final Spot as Ramos Sinks Norway

Portugal came from behind to beat Norway 2-1 in Porto on Sunday night and book their place in the UEFA Nations League quarter-finals with a perfect record intact.

Norway struck first against the run of play in the 36th minute when Kristoffer Ajer met a loose ball with a dipping half-volley that sailed beyond the goalkeeper. The lead lasted barely two minutes, though — Joao Cancelo curled in the equaliser from the edge of the area to settle Portuguese nerves.

The decisive moment arrived 11 minutes from time. Substitute Joao Felix, who had been tormenting the Norwegian defence since his introduction, whipped in a cross from the right and Goncalo Ramos rose highest to head home the winner.

It was Portugal's fourth win from four games in the group, giving them 12 points — six clear of second-placed Denmark, who ground out a 1-0 win away at Wales thanks to Rasmus Hojlund's 75th-minute penalty.

The hosts finished the game with ten men after Francisco Conceicao was dismissed late on, shown a second yellow for sarcastically applauding the referee with a thumbs-up just four minutes after his first booking.

Remarkably, Portugal continue to thrive without Cristiano Ronaldo, who walked out on the squad last week following a dispute with coach Jorge Jesus. The holders had already won 4-2 in Denmark without him on Thursday night.
