Porto Smash Napoli 4-1 to Claim First Champions League Win of the Season
Porto scored three goals in the final 20 minutes to turn a level game into a 4-1 rout of Napoli at the Estádio do Dragão, earning their first Champions League win of the season. Napoli finished with ten men after Rafa Marin was sent off late on.

Porto finally have lift-off in the Champions League. The Portuguese side beat Napoli 4-1 at the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday night, collecting their first victory of the league phase after a match that was level at half-time and then ran away from the visitors in the closing stages. Porto struck first in the 11th minute, when Jan Bednarek rose unmarked to head home a Gabri Veiga corner, although the hosts had already seen an early Pepê finish ruled out for offside. Napoli steadied themselves and were level two minutes before the break: goalkeeper Diogo Costa produced two sharp reaction saves, first from Matteo Politano and then from Rasmus Højlund, but Scott McTominay was on hand to force in the rebound. Napoli had also seen a Kevin De Bruyne finish disallowed for offside earlier in the half. The second half belonged to Porto. Substitute Santiago Giménez changed the game after the break, setting up Veiga to restore the lead with a calm finish in the 71st minute. Nine minutes later Jakub Kiwior, the former Arsenal defender, headed in from another corner to make it 3-1. The night ended badly for Napoli when Rafa Marin was shown a straight red card in the 89th minute for bringing down Samu Aghehowa, who converted the resulting penalty himself in the 90th minute. Both sides now sit on three points, with Porto 26th and Napoli 27th in the 36-team table.
