Sergio Perez gave his home fans a taste of Formula 1 on Wednesday, driving a Cadillac in a free show run along Mexico City's Paseo de la Reforma. The public event, streamed online, came days before the Mexican Grand Prix at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, where Perez will mark his 300th Grand Prix start in front of his home crowd.

The show run was part of a week of city celebrations around the race, which runs from Friday, October 30 to Sunday, November 1. Organisers have also expanded local access through murals, pop-ups and exhibitions, with free-to-air coverage on Canal 5, as talks continue over extending the Mexico Grand Prix beyond its current contract.

For Perez, the home race carries extra meaning. Cadillac are in their debut Formula 1 season and are still chasing their first points after 18 races, but Perez has said he expects the team to become competitive by the middle of 2027 as its development programme continues. A home crowd, a milestone start and a car on the streets of the capital made for a fitting build-up — now the focus turns to the weekend itself, where Perez will hope the celebrations end with points on Sunday.
