Ohtani and Muncy Named Silver Slugger Finalists as Dodgers Chase Postseason Consolation

Shohei Ohtani and Max Muncy have been named finalists for the National League Silver Slugger Award, the Dodgers confirmed on Thursday, giving the club something to celebrate after a postseason that ended far earlier than expected. Ohtani is chasing a fifth Silver Slugger Award overall and a fourth in a row, a haul that would break his tie with Paul Molitor and Edgar Martinez for the second-most designated hitter awards in history, behind only David Ortiz's seven. Muncy, meanwhile, is a finalist for the fourth time since 2021 and is still seeking his first win; Adrian Beltre in 2004 remains the only Dodgers third baseman ever to take the award. The Dodgers were also named finalists for National League Offensive Team of the Year. The recognition comes after a bitter end to the season, with Los Angeles swept in the National League Championship Series by the Milwaukee Brewers, who went on to beat the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series. Manager Dave Roberts tipped his hat to the champions, saying his side were hungry but "the Brewers were starving". Winners of the 2026 Silver Slugger awards will be announced on November 17 on FanSided's "The Baseball Insiders" show.
