Norwich Sack Manning After Seventh Defeat in Eight Leaves Canaries Second From Bottom

Norwich City have sacked head coach Liam Manning, ending a short spell in charge that unravelled with remarkable speed. The decision followed a 2-1 home loss to Leicester, a result that made it seven defeats in eight Championship games and left the Canaries second from bottom of the table, four points from safety. Manning only joined the club in the summer after moving from Bristol City, but the numbers against him became impossible to ignore. Norwich have lost all eight of their home league matches this season and have now gone eleven league games without a win, losing eight of them. Their last league victory came on a trip to Blackburn at the end of August, and patience in the stands finally snapped after a home defeat by Hull City on November 1, when supporters turned on the head coach and he left the field straight down the tunnel. Only Sheffield Wednesday, who have been hit with a points deduction for entering administration, sit below Norwich. The club's American owner, Mark Attanasio, had flown to East Anglia earlier in the month to publicly back Manning, but the Leicester defeat proved to be the final straw. Norwich must now find a new manager quickly, with a squad short on confidence and a home record that has become the worst in the division. Whoever takes over inherits a rescue job, not a rebuilding project, and the next appointment will define whether this season can still be salvaged.
