Mumbai Indians Unveil New-Look Coaching Team for IPL 2027 Under Pollard

Mumbai Indians have confirmed a new-look coaching team for IPL 2027, with T Dilip joining as fielding coach, Mitchell McClenaghan returning as bowling coach and Robin Uthappa named batting coach under head coach Kieron Pollard. The appointments, announced on Friday, follow the departure of Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson from the men's setup a day earlier, with McClenaghan taking over Malinga's bowling brief and Dilip replacing Hopkinson. Dhawal Kulkarni has also been appointed development bowling coach in a year-round role focused on the franchise's young Indian bowlers. The reshuffle follows a flat IPL 2026 in which the five-time champions won just four of 14 matches and finished ninth, their worst recent return, and have not reached a final since their 2020 title. Dilip brings heavyweight credentials after serving as India's fielding coach from 2021 to 2026, a spell that included two T20 World Cup wins, the 2025 Champions Trophy and Asia Cup titles. Uthappa takes over batting duties Pollard handled for four seasons before stepping up to head coach following Mahela Jayawardene's exit. With retention and release lists due by November 15 and the mini auction in Goa on December 16, the new staff will quickly turn to rebuilding a squad that badly needs fresh energy.
