Moreira Stars as Milan Stun Inter 3-1 to Win Fourth Straight Derby

AC Milan produced a first half to remember at San Siro, scoring three times before the break to beat Inter 3-1 and claim a fourth consecutive Derby della Madonnina victory. Christian Pulisic opened the scoring after just four minutes, heading home a Diego Moreira cross for his fourth career goal in this fixture. Six minutes later Moreira was the provider again, delivering the corner from which Adrien Rabiot swept home a first-time finish to make it 2-0. Inter, the defending champions and league leaders, pulled one back in the 22nd minute when Alessandro Bastoni headed in from a Hakan Calhanoglu corner, his first derby goal at the 20th attempt. But Milan restored their two-goal cushion before half-time in style, Moreira curling a stunning direct free kick over the wall and into the top corner in the 43rd minute. It was the young winger's first goal from a free kick and the crowning moment of a night on which he had a hand in all three Milan goals. Inter pushed hard after the break, with Mike Maignan making a string of fine saves. Milan held firm, though, and the win ended Inter's unbeaten start to the league season while underlining the Rossoneri's return to title contention under Ruben Amorim, who celebrated victory in his first Milan derby.
