Montour's Late Winner Lifts Kraken Past Maple Leafs 5-4

Brandon Montour broke Toronto hearts with 34 seconds remaining on Wednesday night, beating Sergei Bobrovsky with a slap shot from the top of the right circle to give the Seattle Kraken a dramatic 5-4 win over the Maple Leafs. The goal came just moments after Auston Matthews had tied the game with 1:30 left and Bobrovsky off for an extra attacker, capping a frantic finish in Seattle. The result spoiled a breakout night for No. 1 overall pick Gavin McKenna, who scored his first two NHL goals, both on the power play, and added an assist for a three-point night. McKenna also helped set up Matthews' tying goal, but his efforts were not enough to rescue a point for Toronto, who fell to 7-6-2. Chandler Stephenson had a goal and an assist for Seattle, who improved to 8-4-1, while Ryker Evans, Berkly Catton and Josh Mahura also scored. Philipp Grubauer made 18 saves for the Kraken, who had earlier blown a two-goal lead in the third period. Jack Roslovic also scored for Toronto, cutting the deficit to 4-3 at 8:02 of the third, and Matthews finished with a goal and two assists to reach 10 goals for the season. Bobrovsky stopped only 12 shots in the defeat, as Seattle turned a 22-17 shot deficit into five goals and a win sealed in the final minute.
