Mitchell's 65 Ties Bridgeman at Top of Baycurrent Classic After Round Two

Keith Mitchell has caught Jacob Bridgeman at the top of the Baycurrent Classic. The American fired a six-under 65 on Friday at Yokohama Country Club to join Bridgeman, who followed his opening 63 with a battling 68, at 11 under par through two rounds of the PGA Tour's lone stop in Asia.

Bridgeman, riding an unforgettable fall that has already brought a PGA Tour victory in North Carolina and the clinching putt at the Presidents Cup, admitted he didn't have his best game but navigated a grinding round to stay tied for the lead.

Two shots back at nine under sits a chasing pack of four: Ben Kohles, whose 62 was the low round of the day, Max Homa, Mac Meissner and Zach Bauchou. Justin Thomas, Stephan Jaeger and Min Woo Lee lurk at eight under, while defending champion Xander Schauffele sits eight shots off the pace after a 69.

With no cut in the 72-man field and 13 Presidents Cup players in action, the weekend in Yokohama is perfectly poised — and Mitchell, who loves playing in Japan, believes the energy of the galleries can carry him to a first title of the season.
