Misiorowski Channels Charizard: Brewers Ace Brings Fireball Energy Into World Series Game 1
At Thursday's World Series press conference, Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski said he will channel Charizard's "fireball" energy when he takes the mound Friday against the Rays.

The Milwaukee Brewers are leaning on firepower Friday night — literally. Asked at Thursday's World Series press conference what Pokémon energy he planned to bring into Game 1, ace Jacob Misiorowski didn't hesitate. "Definitely the flame energy," the 24-year-old said, in a clip shared by Foul Territory. "What's Charizard's signature move? Fireball. Bring some fireball. I'm going to be ready." It fits. Misiorowski's fastball has been the most feared in baseball this season, touching 104.8 mph against San Diego — the fastest postseason pitch since tracking began in 2008 — and his 1,115 pitches of at least 100 mph shattered the previous single-season record of 673. The likely National League Cy Young winner posted a 1.80 ERA with 252 strikeouts in the regular season, and his Pokémon ties run deep: he pulled a rare holographic Charizard card in the Brewers' clubhouse in August 2025 and broke out a custom Charizard-themed glove at the 2026 All-Star Game in Philadelphia, though his favorite remains Lugia. October has been bumpier — two runs in four innings against the Padres, one run in 4 and 1/3 against the Dodgers — but he has yet to allow a postseason home run. Misiorowski opens Milwaukee's first World Series since 1982 on Friday night at American Family Field against Tampa Bay's Nick Martinez, with first pitch at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
