Mensik Withdraws From Paris Masters After Vienna Head Injury

Jakub Mensik has withdrawn from the Paris Masters after suffering a head injury in a fall during his Vienna Open match against Adrian Mannarino. The 21-year-old Czech announced the decision on social media on Friday, saying medical advice had told him to rest and recover properly.

Mensik fell late in the second set in Vienna, hitting his head on the indoor hard court, and required medical attention before returning after a five-minute timeout under concussion protocols. He lost nine of the next ten points and went down 6-4, 7-5 to the Frenchman.

"I'm really disappointed to miss such an important tournament, but health always comes first," Mensik wrote, adding that his focus is now on being fully fit for the Davis Cup at the end of November. The withdrawal also ends his bid to qualify for the ATP Finals for the first time, with the Czech having sat 13th in the race to Turin.
