McKee, 16, Makes History as Youngest Truck Series Pole Winner at Martinsville
Sixteen-year-old Tristan McKee claimed his first Truck Series pole at Martinsville with a lap of 19.549 seconds, the youngest pole winner in series history.

Tristan McKee made NASCAR history on Friday, becoming the youngest pole winner in Truck Series history at just 16 years, two months and 27 days old. Driving the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet, McKee posted a lap of 19.549 seconds around Martinsville Speedway's half-mile oval to top qualifying for Friday night's Black's Tire 200, beating Layne Riggs by just 0.018 seconds. Chandler Smith qualified third, with Ben Rhodes fourth and championship leader Kaden Honeycutt fifth. It is McKee's first career pole in only his fifth Truck Series start, and it comes in the penultimate race of the season, with the championship finale to follow at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Riggs, second in the standings 43 points behind Honeycutt, will start alongside the teenager for the 200-lap race, which begins at 6 p.m. ET on FS1. For McKee, already confirmed for an expanded Truck schedule with Spire in 2027, it is a statement arrival at the front of the field.
