Mayweather Announces December 19 Bangkok Exhibition as Garcia Tune-Up
Floyd Mayweather will return to the ring for an exhibition against Australia's Matt Floyd on December 19 in Bangkok, billing it as a tune-up for a potential Ryan Garcia title fight.

Floyd Mayweather has announced he will return to the ring for an exhibition bout against Australia's Matt "The Jedi" Floyd on December 19 in Bangkok, Thailand. The 49-year-old, who has not fought since his exhibition rematch with John Gotti III in August 2024, revealed the date on social media on Sunday, describing the contest as a tune-up for a potential showdown with Ryan Garcia. "This a lil tune up before me and Ryan Garcia lock up," Mayweather said. Garcia, the WBC welterweight champion, has claimed the pair agreed to meet for his world title in a sanctioned professional fight that would put Mayweather's perfect 50-0 record on the line, although reports have suggested those claims were premature and no serious discussions had taken place between the key stakeholders. Garcia issued Mayweather an ultimatum, saying he is fighting on February 6 regardless. A further complication is a lawsuit from CSI Entertainment over Mayweather's proposed fights against Mike Tyson and Manny Pacquiao, while a proposed exhibition against Mike Zambidis was previously cancelled days before it was due to take place.
