Maxey's 38 Lifts Short-Handed Sixers Past Hornets on Halloween

Tyrese Maxey took over when it mattered most on Halloween night. The Philadelphia guard scored 38 points as the 76ers came from behind in the final minutes to beat the Charlotte Hornets 109-104, completing a back-to-back sweep. Philadelphia scored 13 straight points down the stretch, with VJ Edgecombe's three at the 36-second mark followed by two Maxey free throws to cap the run, sealing a sixth win in seven games for the 6-1 Sixers. Anfernee Simons added 19 points, Jaylen Brown scored 16, Jabari Walker chipped in 12 and VJ Edgecombe finished with 10 in a balanced supporting effort. Charlotte, who got 27 points from Allen and 24 from Brandon Miller, could not hold a late lead despite playing at home. The win was all the more impressive given Philadelphia were again without Joel Embiid and LeBron James. The Sixers return home to face the Chicago Bulls on Monday night.
