Lindor Wins Roberto Clemente Award for Humanitarian Work
New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor has been named the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner for his humanitarian work, with MLB pledging $100,000 to his SEEN Foundation.

Francisco Lindor has been named the 2026 Roberto Clemente Award winner, baseball's highest honour for humanitarian work, with MLB presenting the award during World Series festivities. The New York Mets shortstop was recognised for his sustained community and youth outreach, notably in Puerto Rico and Queens, and Capital One pledged $100,000 to the SEEN Foundation in his name. The award, named after the late Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Famer, is given annually to the player who best represents the game through extraordinary character, community involvement, philanthropy and positive contributions on and off the field. Lindor, a four-time All-Star, has long been one of the sport's most visible community figures, and his foundation work focuses on supporting young people in the communities that shaped him. The honour was announced as the sport's offseason officially began on Thursday, with free agency opening and clubs turning their attention to the winter. For Lindor, the award adds a different kind of distinction to a career already marked by on-field success.
