Lightning Hand Flyers Fourth Straight Loss With 4-1 Win in Tampa

The Philadelphia Flyers are still looking for their first win of the season after a 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday night at Benchmark International Arena.

Tampa Bay got goals from four different skaters: Brayden Point, Pontus Holmberg, Ilya Mikheyev and Brandon Hagel, who capped the night with an empty-net wrist shot set up by Nikita Kucherov in the final seconds. Tyson Foerster scored the lone goal for Philadelphia.

The Lightning built the lead in stages, going up 1-0 in the first period and taking a 2-1 advantage into the third after the Flyers briefly cut into it. Two third-period goals — Mikheyev's wraparound finish assisted by Holmberg and Hagel's empty-netter — closed the door.

The defeat dropped Philadelphia to 0-2-2, winless through its first four games. The Flyers played much of the night on the back foot, unable to cash in on their power-play chances in the third period despite pulling their goalie late.

Tampa Bay moved to 2-1-0 with the victory, a solid bounce-back at home as the early-season race in the Atlantic Division starts to take shape.
