Lebosnoyani Calls Out Jake Matthews After Doctor Stops Hasanov Fight at UFC Vegas 123

Jean-Paul Lebosnoyani used his moment at UFC Vegas 123 to call out welterweight veteran Jake Matthews, moments after a doctor stopped his fight against Farman Hasanov. The ringside physician halted the bout two minutes and eleven seconds into the third round after Hasanov suffered a severe cut above his eye, handing Lebosnoyani his third straight UFC victory. Hasanov, who had started his professional career with five straight wins, suffered his first defeat in brutal fashion. In his cage interview, Lebosnoyani named Matthews as his ideal next opponent, despite the Australian already being booked to face Tahir Abdullayev in Doha on November 21. Lebosnoyani, who now holds a 12-2 professional record, had previously earned UFC decision wins over Seok Hyeon Ko and Philip Rowe, and believes a fight with the 23-8 Matthews would show whether he belongs among the division's contenders. Matthews, a 24-fight UFC veteran, most recently beat Carlston Harris by unanimous decision in May. Lebosnoyani will now wait to see whether Matthews comes through Qatar with another win before any meeting can be made in 2027.
