Leafs' Marchenko Out Week-to-Week With Lower-Body Injury in Latest Toronto Blow
Toronto Maple Leafs forward Kirill Marchenko is week-to-week with a lower-body injury suffered against Calgary, joining John Tavares and others on a growing injury list.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have announced that forward Kirill Marchenko is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, the latest blow to a team already stretched thin. Marchenko was hurt during Monday night's loss to the Calgary Flames, falling awkwardly into the boards after a hit from Yegor Sharangovich in the second period. He left the ice in pain and did not return. The 26-year-old has been a strong addition since arriving in a preseason blockbuster trade with Columbus, posting six goals and 14 points in 14 games. Toronto also updated a crowded treatment room: Nick Blankenburg remains week-to-week with an upper-body injury, John Tavares and Marshall Rifai are week-to-week with lower-body injuries, and Chris Tanev is day-to-day. Dakota Joshua has been recalled from a conditioning loan with the Marlies to help cover the gaps. Marchenko's absence removes one of Toronto's most productive early-season forwards, and the Leafs will need their depth to step up while the injuries pile up.
