Kyrou and Tuch Strike Twice Each as Capitals Down Flyers 5-2

Jordan Kyrou and Alex Tuch each scored twice as the Washington Capitals beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2 on Wednesday night, closing their homestand with a 4-1-0 record. Dylan Strome added three assists, Aliaksei Protas also scored, and Logan Thompson made 23 saves in a confident all-round display. Tuch opened the scoring just 1:50 into the contest, ramming home a rebound, and although Sean Couturier tied it early in the second period, Kyrou restored the lead on the power play less than three minutes later. Protas made it 3-1 before the second intermission, and after Matvei Michkov pulled one back with just over ten minutes left, Kyrou struck again to restore the two-goal cushion. Tuch sealed it with an empty-netter with 2:24 remaining. Thompson's biggest moment came with Washington clinging to a one-goal lead in the third, when he denied Trevor Zegras with a huge stop. Joseph Woll made 25 saves for Philadelphia, whose losing streak stretched to three games. The Capitals, now 7-4, continue to build momentum, while the Flyers, at 3-8, are left searching for answers.
