Koivun Headlines Latest Additions to Inaugural Austin Championship Field

Jackson Koivun's breakout rookie season will include one more stop in Texas. The 21-year-old has been added to the field for the inaugural Austin Championship, set for November 12-15 at Omni Barton Creek Resort and Spa's Fazio Canyons Course. He will be joined by major champions Webb Simpson and Lucas Glover, nine-time PGA Tour winner Matt Kuchar, and fellow rising star Neal Shipley, as the Tour prepares for its return to Austin after a three-year absence. The formal deadline to enter is Friday, November 6. Koivun, the former Auburn star, won the 3M Open in July in just his third professional start and added a third top-10 finish of the season last month with a tie for fifth at the Biltmore Championship Asheville. He also earned a spot on the United States Presidents Cup team at Medinah, where he went 2-0-1 and finished as the only undefeated American. That followed one of the most decorated college careers in recent memory, including NCAA team championships in 2024 and 2026 and a school-record 11 individual victories. The Austin Championship is part of the FedExCup Fall, bringing PGA Tour golf back to the Texas capital for the first time since the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play disappeared after its 2023 edition, and Koivun's addition gives the new event some young star power.
