Kelly's Four-Try Haul Powers PNG Orchids to 58-4 Rout of France
Winger Naomi Kelly equaled the Orchids' international try-scoring record as Papua New Guinea thrashed France 58-4 in their first-ever World Cup match on home soil at Port Moresby's National Football Stadium.

The PNG Orchids made their home World Cup debut one to remember, running in ten tries to demolish France 58-4 in their Women's Rugby League World Cup opener at Port Moresby's National Football Stadium on Friday night.
Winger Naomi Kelly was the star, crossing four times to equal Belinda Gwasamun's Orchids record for most tries in an international, set against Brazil at the 2022 World Cup. The Eels flyer finished with 166 run metres in a devastating display on the left edge.
The hosts struck early through centre Relna Wuruki-Hosea in the seventh minute, and tries to back-rower Shellie Long, Fleur Ginn and Tia Molo blew the scoreline out to 22-0 inside the opening quarter. Kelly's first try and a solo effort from dual international Ivania Wong sent PNG to the break 32 points clear, with France managing just 38 per cent of possession.
France briefly rallied after halftime through fullback Manon Samarra, but Kelly added three more tries as PNG's superior fitness told in the humid conditions. Skipper Elsie Albert led from the front with 154 run metres and 11 tackle breaks, while Molo was named woman of the match.
The Orchids face Fiji at home again in Round 2, while France travel to Christchurch to meet the Kiwi Ferns.
