Kane to Miss 'Next Couple of Games' After Upper-Body Injury in Avs Loss

Patrick Kane will miss the next couple of games after suffering an upper-body injury in Chicago's 5-2 loss to Colorado on Monday night. The veteran winger departed in the second period at the United Center and did not return, with coach Jeff Blashill confirming afterwards that Kane "will miss the next couple games, for sure." Kane played 10:20, including 2:22 on the power play, before leaving, and was officially ruled out after not appearing on the bench to start the third period. The injury is a fresh blow for the slumping Blackhawks, who have lost three straight and six of seven and sit last in the Central Division at 4-10-1. Kane, who turns 38 on November 19, has one goal and eight assists in 15 games since rejoining Chicago on a two-year, $16 million deal in the summer, and his eight assists lead the team. He had just recorded his 900th career assist in Saturday's 5-4 loss at Boston. Chicago was already without defenceman Bowen Byram, who has missed eight straight games with an upper-body injury. The Blackhawks open a three-game trip at Florida on Wednesday night, with stops in Tampa Bay and Carolina to follow, and no firm return date has been given for their veteran star.
