Jordie Barrett Returns as All Blacks Name Strong Side for Scotland — but Savea Is Out for the Month

New Zealand have named a powerful side for Saturday's Nations Championship meeting with Scotland at Murrayfield, with Jordie Barrett returning at centre in one of five changes from the team that beat Australia 43-21 last month. Barrett, who missed the end of the southern-hemisphere season with a calf problem, partners Quinn Tupaea in midfield, while his older brother Beauden starts at full-back and Damian McKenzie moves to fly-half, with Cam Roigard at scrum-half. The Barrett family influence runs through the team, with Scott Barrett packing down in the second row alongside Fabian Holland. Codie Taylor captains the side from hooker, flanked by Ethan de Groot and Fletcher Newell, while the back row features Tupou Vaa'i, Peter Lakai and Wallace Sititi. There is one significant absence, however: Ardie Savea, one of the world's best back-rowers, misses out with a shoulder injury and will be unavailable for the whole of New Zealand's November programme. Rieko Ioane is among the replacements, alongside front-rowers Asafo Aumua and Christian Lio-Willie. Scotland, whose own team news was announced earlier in the week, will be led by captain Sione Tuipulotu with Finn Russell at fly-half as they chase a first-ever win over the All Blacks — 33 meetings since 1905 have produced no Scottish victory and only two draws. Kick-off at Murrayfield is at 2.10pm on Saturday, November 7.
