Joe Mixon Returns to NFL, Signs with the Seahawks

Joe Mixon is back in the NFL. The Seattle Seahawks signed the veteran running back to a contract on Monday after he completed a workout at the team's facility, per multiple reports, ending a comeback bid that once looked doubtful. The 30-year-old missed the entire 2025 season with a lingering foot injury and has not played since his Pro Bowl 2024 campaign with Houston, when he rushed for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns across 14 games. The Texans released him in March, and in the summer he reportedly told former teammates he believed his career might be over. Seattle's need is obvious: 2026 first-round pick Jadarian Price landed on injured reserve with a chest injury, and Zach Charbonnet remains in recovery. Mixon joins a backfield currently led by Emanuel Wilson and George Holani, with the defending champions averaging just 101 rushing yards per game. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
