Jodar Smashes Top 10 Speed Record With Paris Masters Win
Rafael Jodar marked his Top 10 debut with a straight-sets Paris Masters win over Alejandro Tabilo, completing the fastest rise to the elite in ATP history.

Rafael Jodar celebrated becoming a Top 10 player in style on Monday, beating Alejandro Tabilo 6-2, 6-3 in just 86 minutes in the first round of the Rolex Paris Masters. The 20-year-old Spaniard walked on to Court Central at La Défense Arena as the fourth player to make his Top 10 debut on the ATP Tour this season, and he played with the confidence of a man who belongs there, striking 34 winners including 10 aces, winning 71 percent of his first-serve points and converting five of 12 break points against the 30th-ranked Chilean. The victory capped a staggering rise: Jodar needed only 287 days from his ATP Tour debut on January 20, 2026 to reach the Top 10 on November 2, shattering the previous record of 490 days set by Gustavo Kuerten between 1996 and 1997. He had already been 6-1 in opening rounds at Masters 1000 events this season and 8-0 against left-handers since losing to Tabilo at Indian Wells in March. Jodar now sits ninth in the live Race to Turin as he chases a debut at the season-ending ATP Finals, and he will face Casper Ruud in the second round after the Norwegian beat qualifier Juan Manuel Cerundolo 6-3, 6-2.
